Department of
Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry
GENERAL INFORMATION
In 1997 the Department of Engineering Physics and Chemistry integrated the Department of Applied Mathematics and Informatics into a unified department, renamed the Department of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. Since then three main areas have been established: Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
The academic staff of the Department comprises two professors, five associate professors, a senior lecturer, three assistant professors and a senior expert on technical support. Two of the academicians have been conferred the Doctor of Science Degree and the other six of the staff have earned the Doctor of Philosophy Degree.
The department staff provide over 30 undergraduate lecture courses for the following degree programmes: Professional Bachelor’s Degree, Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree.
Entrance Maths Examination Preparatory Courses are offered and taught on regular basis.
MAIN ROLE OF THE DEPARTMENT IN THE FACULTY
The academic staff of the Department of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry deliver lectures and provide training for all undergraduate students, who follow a firm foundation of engineering fundamentals and general engineering.
The following undergraduate lecture courses are provided for the Bachelor’s Degree Programmes: Mathematics І, ІІ and ІІІ, Physics І and ІІ, Chemistry, Technological Practice, Technical Electrical Materials, Engineering Ecology, Water Conditioning in Thermal Systems, Computer Programming and Use of Computers – part 1 and part 2, Informatics, System Programming and Technologies, Visual Programming, Internet Technologies, Engineering Laboratory Practice in IT, English.
Industrial Engineering Bachelor’s degree programme is in English so Higher Mathematics І, ІІ, ІІІ and IV, Chemistry, Informatics І and ІІ, English are courses taught in English.
Master’s Degree students have lectures and tutorials in Mathematics, Mathematical Methods in Machine Building, Applied Mathematics, Business English while Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Water Conditioning in Thermal Systems are taught to complementary education students.
College of Sliven offers Professional Bachelor’s degree programmes. The academic staff of the Department of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry conduct the following courses there: Higher Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Informatics, General and Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Modern Information Systems, Statistics.
